Acrid is a playable character in Risk of Rain 2. This guide will help players learn what it takes to unlock it. Acrid is this dinosaur-like creature that comes along with his own toxic abilities. These include the ability to position enemies, removing 10% of their health over a period of time; Neurotoxin, a projectile of toxic spit bile; and Vicious Wounds, a powerful attack where Acrid mauls his enemies.

Risk of Rain 2 is a roguelike that is full of secret locations and pathways for players to find all on their own. Even the game's final boss requires players to walk off the laid-out path to find it. Into The Void Fields

Players will be able to unlock Acrid in the Bazaar Between Time level. Under the Bazaar will be a hidden cave. Follow this cave to find a purple portal. This will lead players to the Void Fields, where they must defeat the nine challenge cells.

Doing this challenge with friends is recommended since each wave gets more difficult than the last. Stay distant, and make sure to pay close attention to your health. Once the nine challenge cells have been defeated, the player will unlock Acrid as a playable character.

How To Use Acrid

Builds & Abilities

Acrid is a tank, close-range character who can be built up with the right items in Risk of Rain 2. Many people find Acrid hard to control or use, mostly because they do not understand his special abilities. As Astro on YouTube points out, understanding how his Epidemic works is the best way to figure out how to make Acrid work for you.

Other smaller but more common items you can use as Acrid include the Topaz Brooch, the Monster Tooth, or the Medkit if you want to have good survivability.

Acrid specializes in poison and blight effects, all while being able to deal out large amounts of melee damage. Players will want to stack even more effects on top of that to give enemies additional debuffs. Razor Wire is one of the big items you want to have as much as possible.

Corpse Bloom is another one that will let you stack healing effects that keep you alive. Additionally, if you can find one by beating bosses in Risk of Rain 2, the Titanic Knurl is fantastic on Acrid for the same reasons.

The other two things you want to master as Acrid are his Utility moves: Caustic Leap and Frenzied Leap. These are excellent sources of movement, but they also help you deal more damage, start an attack with a good amount of damage, and position yourself better to kill whatever enemy is fighting you. Additionally, if you can find the Legendary Unstable Tesla Coil, you will be unstoppable as Acrid in Risk of Rain 2.
