Resident Evil Village players will not have access to the LZ Answerer until they complete a series of events. Firstly, players must have already completed the main story. Once the game is completed, the Extra Content Shop is revealed, allowing players to purchase Mercenaries Mode. This mode costs 100 Challenge Points () and will serve as the basis for unlocking the LZ Answerer.

Players must complete all the levels in Mercenaries Mode and achieve a rank of at least SS on each of them. This accomplishment is a feat, requiring players to stay on top of their game to achieve the second-highest rank of SS. However, the arduous journey through Mercenaries Mode is worth it, rewarding players with the ability to buy the LZ Answerer from the Extra Content Shop for 70,000 .

Once players have collected enough Challenge Points to unlock the LZ Answerer, they must complete one last step to finally wield Resident Evil’s version of a lightsaber. Return to story mode to find the Duke. After unlocking the LZ Answerer from the Extra Content Shop, it should be available to buy from him. The lightsaber costs 200 Lei in the Duke’s shop, but this is the final purchase needed to acquire one of the coolest weapons in Resident Evil’s 25-year history.

The LZ Answerer has two modes and three different colors that can be switched between for different effects. The first mode is a single-blade mode which is wielded similarly to the default knife melee weapon. Players can switch to double-blade mode, not unlike Star Wars characters such as Bastila, to use as a staff-like melee weapon. The double-blade mode shares similar animations to the Karambit Knife. Although the LZ Answerer animations are shared with other weapons in Resident Evil Village, it is much more powerful.

The LZ Answerer also has three different colors to switch between by holding the aim button (L2 or LT) and pushing the interact button (X or A). The default color is red, which gives players more a powerful blade that does more damage per strike. The next color, blue, does not do anything different from red. The last color, green, does less damage than the other colors but also heals players as they attack enemies. Slicing through hordes of enemies has never been more satisfying.
