Katie Maloney-Schwartz from felt invalidated by Lisa Vanderpump after Lisa asked about her fertility. Viewers met the former SUR employee when she ed the cast of the Bravo series for season 1. Katie ed the show as one of the original cast alongside Scheana Shay, Stassi Schroeder, Kristen Doute, Tom Sandoval, and Jax Taylor. Her now-husband Tom Schwartz was a recurring cast member at the time.
Even though Katie is one of the few who has managed to stay on the show for the past nine seasons, many of her fellow cast weren't that lucky. Stassi and Kristin were fired in June 2020 after a podcast episode resurfaced where they itted to calling the cops on their former VPR costar Faith Stowers. A few months after they were let go, Jax and his wife Brittany Cartwright were also fired from the Bravo series. While the reasoning behind Jax and Brittany's firing was unclear, it was likely due to Jax's past misogynistic behavior.
On a new episode of Katie's podcast, Katie also confessed she was hurt by Lisa's line of questioning when she spoke with Lisa about her fertility struggles.
"When I sit down and I'm talking to Lisa and she's like, 'Well, why are you guys going to see a fertility doctor? Did you even try?'" Katie said in reference to her conversation with the restauranteur. While Katie knew was Lisa coming from a good place, she couldn't help but feel "invalidated" and felt her former boss' questioning was "invasive." Katie itted she and Schwartz have tried seeing fertility doctors and are working on having a child someday. She also wanted to let her listeners know that asking these intimate questions about someone's fertility "comes across as rude" and she is tired of having to defend her answer. Right now, Katie and Schwartz are working at their own pace and will be happy to share once they have good news.
Katie knows her friends, family, and even fans are just curious about her pregnancy journey. However, it's a sensitive topic not only for her, but for all women struggling with fertility. The VPR star plans on conceiving a child one day when the time is right for her and Schwartz.
Vanderpump Rules airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
