The ultimate symbiote showdown begins in an incredible new trailer for Marvel's Venom War event, as original Venom host Eddie Brock enters the ring to challenge his son, Dylan. Teased for months, Venom War will finally arrive this August and see the Brock family and the Venom symbiote battle it out to determine the ultimate symbiote champion.
Marvel posted the trailer for Venom War on Twitter/X in celebration of San Diego Comic-Con. The trailer opens on a wrestling match in New York City, when suddenly Eddie Brock and a group of his alternate selves crash through the ceiling. Grabbing the microphone from the announcer, Eddie promises everyone that "this ain't kayfabe" (a wrestling term referring to the in-universe characters treating wrestling storylines as non-fictional), but a real fight. In the same breath, Eddie challenges his son and his symbiote to come meet him.
This wrestling match could have major ramifications for the Marvel Universe, and it all starts this August with Venom War #1 by Al Ewing and Iban Coello.

The Fate of the Venom Symbiote Could Be On The Line
The Venom War has been teased by Marvel dating back to much earlier this year. The concept of the event is simple, with Eddie receiving a vision of the Venom World, a proposed future where the Venom symbiote takes over the entire planet. Knowing what's at stake, Eddie is convinced that he is the only person capable of keeping the Venom symbiote under control. Unfortunately for Eddie, his son Dylan is thinking the exact same thing. This will put the father-son duo into conflict, and as with most conflicts under the Marvel banner, this can only be settled with a war.
Eddie Brock is globally recognized as the most famous host to the Venom symbiote, having carried the symbiote ever since Peter Parker disposed of it leading into the prolific Amazing Spider-Man #300. In more recent years, though, his son Dylan has been the primary host for Venom, with some willing to argue his time as this proverbial battle royal is going to settle that once and for all, but they won't be alone as other symbiotes are expected to be present.
The Winner Will Be Venom's Sole Host
Who Wins?
With the fate of Venom on the line, that also means the fate of the world is on the line, knowing the stakes of the future. It's not just worth debating which Brock is going to win, but which Brock can best be trusted with Venom? The winner of this grand slam will be the sole Venom host, but either has the potential to either use Venom to present the Earth's destruction or plunge it further and faster into darkness. Readers don't want to miss the Venom War as its results could have major repercussions for the rest of the Marvel Universe.

- HISTORY
- The Venom symbiote is an alien organism that first bonded with Peter Parker (Spider-Man) during the "Secret Wars" storyline. After Parker rejected the symbiote, it found a new host in Eddie Brock, a disgraced journalist. The symbiote and Brock bonded over their mutual hatred for Spider-Man, becoming the anti-hero known as Venom. Over time, Venom has evolved from a villain to an anti-hero, often fighting alongside other heroes to protect innocents, though his methods remain brutal.
Venom is a symbiotic alien entity bonded with various human hosts, notably Eddie Brock and later Flash Thompson. It grants superhuman strength, agility, and a shape-shifting black costume. Initially a Spider-Man villain due to its origins, Venom evolved into an antihero, battling both villains and his own dark impulses. The character embodies themes of duality and redemption within the Marvel Universe.
