Avengers: Infinity War, WandaVision will presumably introduce a handful of new concepts, including the MCU's multiverse.

WandaVision, created by Jac Schaeffer, will officially launch Phase 4 of the MCU. Set after the events of Avengers: Endgame, Scarlet Witch, aka Wanda Maximoff, and Vision find themselves living the ideal suburban life. As the decades go on, the pair start to realize that not everything in the town of Westview is as it seems. Aside from Wanda and Vision, the series will feature an adult Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris), a nosy neighbor named Agnes (Kathryn Hahn), and the return of MCU characters Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings) and Jimmy Woo (Randall Park).

Based on the The Wizard of Oz focus on false realities. Like Baum's story and the beloved film from 1939, the Marvel show may focus on a world created by a fake magician, or some kind of villain with distorting powers.

Why The The Wizard Of Oz Reference Might Be A Clue To WandaVision's Villain

While there have been theories on WandaVision's villain, the Wizard of Oz Easter egg could be an indicator that Wanda falls victim to a figure with powers to alter reality. The reference could also be a clue that there is a con artist in her midst, in the same fashion that Dorothy falsely believed in the Wizard's magic while in Emerald City. That character, of course, was the same figure who portrayed Professor Marvel in Dorothy's true reality. In addition to a mysterious magician, the Easter egg could be a nod to another witch.

Some theories have suggested that Hahn's Agnes is actually Agatha Harkness, a witch villain who had a dark history with Wanda in the comics. In previous trailers, Agnes is seen riding a bike in the same fashion as the Wicked Witch of the West. To add to the theory, Hahn's character wears a witch costume during the Halloween-themed episode and there's the fact that the group lives in Westview. While this might be a playful nod to Baum's work and other well-known witches in Marvel Comics, it seems more likely that the MCU is dropping hints for what's on the horizon with WandaVision.
