Patch 7.0 for Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 introduces a new PvE mission, "Exfiltration," to the list of available Operations you and your friends can complete. This mission has you track down an Adeptus Mechanicus Tech-Priest who has refused orders to withdraw from a remote planet. As the 9th Operation in the game, the risk factor for this mission is High, making it challenging to complete without some preparation.
New customization options and balance changes to Space Marine 2 are also coming in Patch 7.0, giving you new ways to approach the added Operation. You can experiment with new changes by playing on the Public Testing Server (PTS) beforehand. Not only can you find the "Exfiltration" mission here, but you can also see various changes that may be adjusted before the update's official release.

Look For Strong Crowd Control Options
No matter what class archetype you choose for "Exfiltration," you need to have a loadout designed to combat the Tyranid hordes you will face. This mission showcases many familiar Tyranid enemy types but also adds several new foes you have likely never seen before. This mission has you explore both wide open areas and enclosed facilities, making a balanced selection of Perks and gear important.

These tables do not include all the Perks you can have in a class loadout, just the ones that might be the most important for success during the "Exfiltration" mission.
Any gear that aids in greater crowd control or tools to help you take out Majoris-Level enemies faster is welcome to a loadout for this Operation. Like many other PvE Operations in Space Marine 2, you need to have a balanced squad to combat waves upon waves of Tyranids to complete objectives. Team synergy is even more important if you choose to tackle this mission on a higher difficulty.
How To Reach The Longinus Gamma Facility
Avoid The Lurking Creatures In The Sand
When you begin the "Exfiltrator" mission, you'll land on the planet Avarax, a desert world where the Tech-Priest you're searching for was stationed. As you travel through the deserted lands outside the only city on Avarax, you'll encounter a massive Tyranid Elite capable of burrowing into the ground. As you make your way to the Gamma Facility, a large burrowing Tyranid will hunt you under the sands of the world.
Little pockets of Tyranid groups must be defeated as you and your squad slowly and steadily make your way toward the objective point. You'll have to take down bipedal Tyranids with weapons, the standard horde units that come in great numbers, and even some rare variants of the faction who fly in the air. Target Elite enemies first with parries to make enemy groups easier to challenge as you progress.
The burrowing Tyranid will detect movement only if you are walking on the open sands of Avarax. Certain classes, like the Assault archetype in Space Marine 2, will have an easier time avoiding this Tyranid due to extra mobility skills.
Find little pockets of high ground to avoid detection from the burrowing Tyranid along your path. I've discovered the hard way that any attack from the underground Tyranid will take out a huge chunk of your health. If you linger around safe areas, take out Tyranid enemy groups, and pay attention to where the burrowing Tyranid might come from, you'll eventually reach the city.
To enter the Gamma Facility, you have to call an elevator at the end of the sand path. This elevator takes some time to arrive, so you need to defend its entrance from multiple Tyranid waves, including the burrowing Tyranid who's been giving you trouble. Once the elevator arrives, enter it to begin the next phase of the Operation.
How To Eradicate The Tunnels
Place Charges Near Tyranid Spawn Points
As the elevator goes down to enter the Gamma Facility, you will have to fight your way through several halls of enemies. Once you defeat every Tyranid in your path, you'll find yourself in a large courtyard where even more of the enemies have spawned. Your objective here is to place Melta charges where the Tyranid tunnels emerge onto the surface to stop the flow of enemies.
This objective includes several Elite ranged Tyranid units who fire poisonous projectiles at you or your squad. Make sure to practice your parry timing against enemies to enter invulnerable execution animations to avoid these dangerous attacks.
The first charge is the hardest to place, as you have to slice, shoot, and destroy initial enemies in the Facility and ones spawning freshly from every tunnel. There are three tunnels you need to eradicate by placing Melta Charges close to their openings. After a short time, your charges explode, sealing the routes from where more Tyranids might appear.
How To Restore Power & Retrieve The Brain
Find Power Cells And Disconnect Different Systems
Once you eliminate all the Tyranid spawn points, you can head deeper into the Facility. Similar to the Obelisk mission in Space Marine 2 from an earlier Patch, you have to obtain key items and defend areas in this Facility to restore its power. This is done in multiple steps, including:
- Find a Power Cell somewhere in the Gamma Facility chambers.
- Interact with a Generator to place a Power Cell within it.
- Repeat Steps 1-2 with another Power Cell.
- Disconnect the "Brain" from Uplink Terminals.
The Power Cells are heavily guarded by Tyranid hordes, who also hinder your progress to deliver a Cell to a Generator. You cannot wield a Primary Weapon while carrying a Power Cell, so make sure you are ed by your allies to help accomplish this task. When both Cells are empowering two Generators, you have to head to a terminal where the "Brain" of the Facility can be disconnected.

Space Marine 2's Balance Changes Are Great, But I'm Most Excited For The New Customization Options
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2's latest patch does a good job balancing weapons, but I'm most excited about the character customization.
Stand in the space near a Facility terminal to disconnect the Brain after enough progress is made. From here, you can go into the heart of the Facility once again and retrieve the Brain from its machine, sending you to the final phase of the mission. All you have to do after getting the Brain is to survive to the Extraction Point, where you and your squad will be picked up to end the mission.
This Operation likely has more content to be added before the official release of Patch 7.0. A massive Apex Tyranid boss can be seen in between this Operation's steps, likely signifying a boss at the end of the mission. As of this time of writing though, the "Exfiltration" Operation PvE mission in Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 will end in the Public Testing Server after you reach the Extraction Point.
