EDITOR'S NOTE: This article is for Wordle answer #261; the March 8th Wordle answer is available now.
Today’s Wordle answer was not particularly hard to guess as it’s a ubiquitous word used in daily vernacular. However, if players were unable to guess today’s answer, some hints might help players solve the puzzle. The game offers visual clues to players by changing the color of boxes containing letters. However, sometimes these hints aren’t enough to guess the daily Wordle answer in six tries or less.
Wordle’s rules are fairly simple to understand each time a box’s color changes. If a box’s color changes to yellow, that means the letter in that box is being used today’s Wordle answer but is not in the right spot. If a box’s color changes green, that means the letter is being used in today’s Wordle answer, and the placement is correct as well. However, if a box’s color remains unchanged, it means that letter is not being used anywhere in today’s Wordle answer.
Once players are done guessing today’s puzzle, they can share their results on websites like Twitter and Facebook. Clicking on the “Share” button will copy a set of color box emojis and the number of attempts to the clipboard. Players can then share these emojis on social media platforms for other Wordle players to see how close or far the player was from guessing today's Wordle answer. What’s neat is that these colored-box emojis do not spoil the answer for other players.
Wordle’s March 7, 2022 (#261) Hints & Answers

- Hint 1: collect or amass items for future use
- Hint 2: a stash of treasure
- Hint 3: to accumulate something
Wordle 261 Answer (March 7)
If players were unable to guess today’s Wordle answer, the solution they are looking for is HOARD. When trying to guess today’s answer, the first word we used was “ROAST.’ This revealed two letters being used in the right spot while one letter needed to be adjusted. For the second word, we used ‘BOARD,’ which showed four letters being used in the right spot. Once it was apparent that four letters were in the correct place, HOARD was the next word we used that solved the Wordle puzzle.
