EDITOR'S NOTE: This article is for Wordle answer #479; the October 12th Wordle answer is available now.
The October 11th hard can actually make a Wordle easier to solve. There is also a Hard Mode available in the options that will force players into using more critical thinking when solving the daily puzzle.
For those that prefer an even more difficult challenge, there are a number of copycat games that exist, including Squabble, which is a Wordle clone that turns the game into a Battle Royale of sorts against other players. Instead of the normal slow-pace of solving a daily word, Squabble has players racing through as many words as possible, attacking the opponent's health bar with every completed answer. It creates a wonderfully tense version of the familiar Wordle format.

Today's Wordle Answer (October 11th #479)
The October 11th Wordle answer is VALID.
For our starting Wordle word today we used IRATE which provided the two main vowels in today's answer, just in the wrong places. Moving forward, our second guess was GAINS, this locked in the 'A' and gave us another incorrect placement for 'I'. Our third guess tried to move the 'I' again with HADJI which was also incorrect but added the letter 'D' to our clues.
For the fourth attempt, we pretty much knew where the 'I' needed to go so we tried VAPID. Although this was incorrect it easily led to the final answer, and a Wordle win-in-five, with VALID.
