The Vampires Returned In Season 6

The What We Do in the Shadows cast is one of the reasons that show worked so well and season 6 keept its winning ensemble together. That means that a host of familiar faces returned, alongside a wealth of guest stars that added spice to the individual episodes. Leading the charge throughout all five seasons was Harvey Guillén's beleaguered familiar Guillermo, and he continued to grow into the last season. Likewise, the vampires played by Natasia Demetriou, Matt Berry, Mark Proksch, and Kayvan Novak all came back too.

A new face was announced at 2024's San Diego Comic Con, and SNL's Mike O'Brien appeared as Jerry the Vampire. Jerry is a roommate within the mansion who was accidentally left in a deep slumber since 1976. He also formed a close bond with The Guide throughout the final season as he attempted to continue the vampiric conquest in the 21st century.

The Mockumentary Comes To A Close

Guillermo wakes up Nandor in What We Do In The Shadows

What We Do in the Shadows was never a show that was going to have a sappy ending, but the finale of the mockumentary was touching in its own way. Successfully wrapping up the one storyline that was the true emotional heart of the show (Guillermo and Nandor's), the show still made time for tongue-in-cheek laughs that didn't betray the irredeemable nature of the vampires. While some teases were dropped that the characters could return, the conclusiveness of the finale isn't really a question.
