Meta-owned messaging platform attending video calls on WhatsApp, s might need to minimize the app to check something on their phone, such as an image, email, or text message. Until now, s had to pause their video call to do that, but the arrival of Picture-in-Picture for video calls changes that.

The Picture-in-Picture (PiP) feature for video calls comes as a part of WhatsApp's latest iOS update (version 23.3.77) on Feb. 18, 2023. Hence, s must update the app before trying to use the feature. Although the feature isn't available for WhatsApp on Android devices yet, the way to use it should be the same on both mobile operating systems once it becomes available.

First, head to the app store to update WhatsApp to the latest version available. Now open the app and initiate a video call. Now, whenever there's a need to open another app, minimize WhatsApp by swiping from the bottom of the screen. WhatsApp will continue the video call in a small window that floats over other apps without pausing. To minimize an ongoing video call, WhatsApp s can press the arrow pointing towards the left in the top left corner of the screen, which opens the WhatsApp chats section.

To access another app while attending a video call, minimize the video call by pressing the home button (Android) or swiping up from the bottom of the screen (iOS) devices and navigating to the required app. Although WhatsApp hasn't released the Picture-in-Picture feature for Android s, they can enable their device's Picture-in-Picture mode as a workaround. Head to the 'Settings' app and type 'Picture in Picture' in the search box at the top. If the phone s the feature, s can enable it for WhatsApp and minimize video calls without interruptions.

Along with the Picture-in-Picture for video calls, WhatsApp for iOS also gets captions when sending documents and for longer group subjects and descriptions. Recently, WhatsApp released a feature allowing Android s to send 100 photos/videos together. Previously, this limit was set to 30. However, this feature is not available for iOS WhatsApp s yet.
