There's always at least a few hours of downtime between seasons, but the actual length of downtime varies wildly, so it's impossible to say how long you'll have to wait before you can jump back in. Even when Epic Games provides an estimated end for downtime, it can always be extended (which it has been before). Hopefully, it won't be too long.

Although this hasn't been officially confirmed by Epic Games yet, it's widely believed that Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 5 will actually be a new Fortnite OG season.

The reason for this is that Epic Games previously teased that Fortnite OG will return in 2024, and because there are only two months left of the year, the window for bringing it back is now incredibly small. November is also the month when the first Fortnite OG season debuted in 2023, so it would line up nicely for it to return in November 2024.

While the original Fortnite OG saw the Chapter 1 map and loot pool return, it's rumored that the next edition of Fortnite OG will focus on Chapter 2 instead. This could mean the return of locations like Sweaty Sands and Slurpy Swamp, as well as iconic weapons like the Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle and the Rocket Launcher.
