Despite their similarities, the Cuthberts, their friends, and their foes are all very different characters living within the same community. With the assortment of personalities walking about Anne’s home on Prince Edward Island, there are bound to be ones that fit the 12 zodiac signs.

Aries: Billy Andrews

Anne With An E Billy Andrews

Billy is confident and likes being the leader. He’s popular at school, does work around Avonlea like repairing the Gillis family’s home, and takes on an important role in the school Christmas pantomime. Just as we would expect from an Aries, Billy also seeks physical challenges, including playing hockey.

Billy can be impulsive and aggressive, particularly to people he doesn’t see eye-to-eye with. He teases Gilbert for liking Anne and stages an incident that causes to Cole break his arm. Though he’s temperamental, there are times when Billy recognizes how his actions affect others, like when he chooses not to shoot Anne’s fox.

Taurus: Marilla Cuthbert

Anne With An E Marilla Cuthbert

Marilla is tough on the outside but soft-hearted on the inside. She can come across as stubborn and possessive, particularly when it comes to protecting her family.

A true Taurus, it takes a while for Marilla to adapt to change. After Anne is sent to Green Gables by mistake, it takes some convincing for Marilla to agree to adopt her. Marilla’s devotion to her family and community is shown through her hard work in the kitchen and in the garden at Green Gables. At the end of the day, everyone can count on her.

Gemini: Gilbert Blythe

Gilbert Blythe In Anne With An E Season 2

Gilbert’s determination to excel at school and on his career path, combined with his loyalty, make him fit the Gemini criteria. When the teens turn on Anne after her bold declaration in the school newspaper, Gilbert stands up for her despite their judgment.

Gilbert can also be indecisive, and his inability to express his feelings for Anne put her in disarray. Gilbert is sociable and affectionate, often making conversation amongst his peers and helping Sebastian care for baby Delphine.

Cancer: Ruby Gillis

Emotionally-driven and suspicious, Ruby’s feelings can get the best of her. Ruby has many Cancer qualities. She cries over a lot of things—mostly Gilbert—but she is a caring friend who is by Anne’s side.

At the beginning of the series, Ruby is very moody and pessimistic, such as when she complains about staying with the Cuthberts after her house burns down. Over the seasons, she grows to become more sympathetic and loyal. Ruby is also imaginative and s Anne’s story-writing club.

Leo: Muriel Stacy

Miss Stacy brings a burst of creativity and warm-heartedness with her to Avonlea. She is ionate, like a Leo, and shares a love for knowledge with her students. Miss Stacy is a natural-born leader, taking up the responsibility of overseeing the school newspaper.

Miss Stacy can be inflexible and stubborn when it comes to not doing things the way she wants. This makes the majority of the town believe she is a poor influence over their children. Miss Stacy is confident in her abilities to complete jobs commonly done by both men and women. She’s also generous and dedicates time to helping Gilbert get into the college of his choice.

Virgo: Matthew Cuthbert

Matthew in the trees in Anne With An E

Matthew Cuthbert is a true Virgo. He takes his work at Green Gables with high importance, but that doesn’t take away from his kindness. Matthew can be overly critical of himself. He never wants to burden Anne and Marilla.

Matthew’s shy nature makes it difficult for him to ask for help, and he’s never liked being the center of attention. He faces his fear when he delivers the final lines at the Christmas pantomime. Matthew is loyal and practical, which are definite Virgo traits.

Libra: Josephine Barry

Aunt Josephine dressed in black in Anne With An E

Josephine Barry is social and gracious, making her fit the Libra description. She hosts a yearly lavish soirée and is always willing to help her own friends and her friends’ friends. Josephine provides lightbulbs for the Avonlea children’s demonstration to Miss Stacy, hires Jerry to keep working at Green Gables, and takes Cole in as her family.

Libras dislike conflict and often rely on rational thinking to solve problems. When Anne is tending to Minnie May’s croup, Josephine doubts her abilities because she s an old wives’ tale. Josephine dislikes injustice and values fairness.

Scorpio: Anne Shirley-Cuthbert

Anne is ionate, determined, and a strong leader. She tries her best to be a true friend and uplift those around her. She finds beauty in literature and nature, leads a protest against censorship in Avonlea, and sticks up for those who are mistreated. Anne will stop at nothing to learn the truth, such as when she goes on a quest to find her family’s origin.

Anne takes matters into her own hands, often to a fault. She forges love letters as Matthew and accidentally dyes her hair green. Anne’s need to have people like her gets Cole in trouble when she tells Miss Stacy about him not attending school. Scorpios value longtime friends, and Anne is constantly on the lookout for kindred spirits.

Sagittarius: Sebastian Lecroix

Bash In Anne With An E

Sebastian has the idealistic and generous qualities of a Sagittarius. He arrives in Avonlea with Gilbert to start a new life on the farm and gifts Marilla with spices for her kitchen when he’s a dinner guest.

Sebastian is often energetic and optimistic, working diligently on the steamship and always ready to help Gilbert on the farm. He dislikes being constrained, and his bluntness can drive people away. He also has a playful sense of humor and frequently teases Gilbert about Anne.

Capricorn: Diana Barry

Diana making a toast in Anne With An E

Diana is disciplined and has notably good manners. Though at times she feels held back by her family, she is ambitious like a Capricorn. She takes the Queen's entrance exams in opposition to her parents’ wishes to send her to finishing school. She is also patient with Anne, who is very different from her but still her best friend.

Diana’s need to present herself as self-disciplined and of high status can make her cold and condescending. Sometimes she is accepting and understanding, like when she remains friends with Anne after the other girls mock her, but, at other times, she is the opposite, like when she hurts Jerry’s feelings by hiding their relationship.
