Thanks to the lovely variety of diverse and memorable characters, the legendary 2001 Hayao Miyazaki animated film, Spirited Away, has gone down in history amongst fans as one of the greatest animated films of all time. There's always at least one character in the ensemble that viewers hold close to their hearts.
One way to look even deeper into one's own relationship with the magical cast of humans, creatures, and deities in the movie is to see how they would all rank by zodiac sign so you can find out who you would most relate to.
Aries: Chihiro’s Father
Though his appearances in the film are brief and he's not even human half of the time, there is something to be said about Chihiro's dad.
His boldness and disregard for any ambiguity or danger -- or rather -- his need to explore and conquer the unknown is, after all, part of what prompts him to run into the abandoned carnival grounds in the first place. He's a fire sign and an Aries if there's ever been one.
Taurus: Radish Spirit
This Earth sign knows how to enjoy himself and understands the importance of balance, just like every Taurus.
The Radish Spirit appears in the film from time to time. Although quiet, he has no problem with gently inserting himself into the narrative as a benevolent guide to Chihiro as she seeks out Yubaba for work. He's dependable and seems quite comfortable in his own image.
Gemini: Zeniba
The twin sister witch to Yubaba prides herself on being different from the greedy bathhouse manager. Though it's inferred that they're twins and born from the same source, they're very different.
Zeniba is a hard worker of her own volition and aims to carry out her goals. As a Gemini, she can be extremely kind, has many different skills, and her energy and moods can be contagious. She is also is literally able to split herself into different parts using her magic.
Cancer: No-Face
No-Face feels things differently, as a Cancer. Sensitive and able to pick up the vibe of a room, they are often directly affected by the energies around them, existing in both the emotional and material realms.
This is accentuated thanks to No-Face's ability to literally internalize people's energies and personalities by eating them. Nonetheless, they can still show kindness and be protective.
Leo: Yubaba
Yubaba is an obvious Leo. Despite her and Zeniba being twins, they act like their respective assigned zodiacs.
Yubaba expects to be treated like royalty, not one to shy away from being the center of the room and be confrontational as she deems it necessary. She's outgoing, intense, and can be overzealous.
Virgo: Lin
A no-brainer as a Virgo, Lin takes after her Earth sign well. Virgos are known to be practical, pragmatic, and straightforward. They're assured in their abilities and can be introverted or extroverted, though they can doubt their abilities due to their aim for relative perfection.
Lin knows her world and knows it well, able to promptly communicate her needs while understanding the needs of others. Virgos can be assertive but gentle and loyal as well, just like this character, who helps Chihiro and stands up for her along the way.
Libra: Kamaji
Libras are concerned with balance and justice. They can be gracious and generous, much like Kamaji, who although is diplomatic and doesn't do anything without reason or necessarily out of his bounds, decides to go out of his way to help Chihiro because he's concerned for her and sees her needing his help.
He even gives her his only tickets to board the train out of care for her and the urgency of Haku's situation at that moment.
Scorpio: Chihiro
Scorpios are powerful when it comes to the emotional, material, and psychic. They are sensitive to energies and often misunderstood, much like Chihiro, who learns the balance between the worlds fairly quickly enough to understand and conquer them.
She's also misunderstood and underestimated as being less capable than she really is. Like Scorpios, she's stubborn and can be very ionate about things, as well as brave and resourceful.
Sagittarius: Boh
Sagittarius is a fire sign, which is fitting for the often fired-up and self-assured giant baby, Boh, who is Yubaba's spoiled child.
Thankfully, he becomes humbled when caught up in Chihiro's quest to save Haku and realizes how manipulative his mother can be, causing him to be more aligned with a zodiac sign focused on the pursuit of knowledge, while maintaining an extroverted edge.
Capricorn: Haku
Haku, a true Capricorn, is focused, disciplined, and calm, even when things are hard. Though his state as a dragon differs from his personality as a human-looking spirit, the river deity is willing to do whatever it takes to reach his goal of freedom, independence, and protection.
He is loyal to no end and is fast to make sacrifices if he feels it is needed. His straightforward demeanor can be confusing, especially to Chihiro when she still is trying to decipher if he is a true ally. In the end, he carries out his objective of taking care of Chihiro until she is completely safe.
