Not only was Greg at the Hawaii resort in season 1, but he also visited the Sicily resort in season 2 with his wife Tanya, who died there under suspicious circumstances.

After Tanya died while falling off the boat in Sicily, Greg seemingly inherited her wealth despite being a person of interest in her death case, and has since settled in Thailand near the local White Lotus resort. However, he certainly didn’t expect anyone who could recognize him to appear at this location, so Belinda spotting him put Greg’s new life as “Gary” in jeopardy. While Greg denied his identity and history in Hawaii to Belinda, she did some research and confirmed the truth in The White Lotus season 3, episode 4, effectively putting both parties in danger.

Belinda Could Expose Greg To The Authorities

Greg may have told her that his name was Gary and he hadn’t been to the Hawaii White Lotus resort location, but Belinda knew that something didn’t feel right about the situation. Thankfully, she trusted her gut, and she could be responsible for exposing the truth about Greg’s suspicious involvement in Tanya’s tragic death from The White Lotus season 2’s ending. In The White Lotus season 3, episode 4, Belinda searches for images of Greg and confirms that it is, in fact, “Gary,” and sees reports that Greg has been wanted for questions concerning Tanya’s death.

After confirming his identity, Belinda put the pieces together that Greg was likely involved in Tanya’s death, fled Italy, changed his name, and has been in hiding from the authorities. The question now is what Belinda will actually do with all this information. She’ll likely want to call the police with a tip about Greg’s whereabouts, but they might need her to have more proof of his identity before they take the matter seriously. Meanwhile, Greg is going to have to take desperate measures to keep Belinda quiet and avoid having the truth come to light.

Greg Needs Leverage Over Belinda

At the end of The White Lotus season 3, episode 4, Greg is seen returning to his house from the boat and looking up Belinda’s social media. Eventually, he lands upon a picture of Belinda with her son, Zion, who had already appeared in season 3’s opening flash-forward scene, and is now set to arrive at the Thailand resort the following day in The White Lotus' present timeline. The episode ends without Greg giving any explicit indication as to what he intends to do with Belinda, but her son is now almost guaranteed to be part of his dark plans.

There are a few ways that Greg could use Belinda’s personal information to try to blackmail her into keeping quiet, but he knows that Belinda’s son would be her greatest weakness, so threatening Zion would be more effective than threatening something like her career. Greg could threaten to kill Zion and make it look like an accident, which is what he previously intended to do with Tanya, or possibly threaten to come after Zion in the future if Belinda ever reveals what she knows to the authorities.

Zion will already be at the Thailand resort for a few days before the shooting occurs.

Greg could also use Zion as leverage in a less physically threatening way, such as trying to bribe Belinda by paying for Zion’s school and buying the wellness center that Tanya had promised her in exchange for staying quiet. However, violence seems to be the way that Greg has learned to deal with his issues, given his initial plans with Quentin to kill Tanya. Since it’s hinted that Greg might be responsible for the rustling around that Belinda hears outside her room, he could already be scouting ways to attack her and Zion at the resort.

Zion Was Worried About His Mother When The Shots Rang Out

The idea that Greg might be threatening Zion to keep Belinda quiet is also ed by the events that transpire in The White Lotus season 3’s opening scene. This season kicks off with Zion at a wellness session, which is interrupted by a series of gunshots heard at the resort. Eventually, the shots start ringing closer until the bullets begin aiming at the location where Zion is having his meditation session. He then tries to find cover in the water, where he discovers The White Lotus season 3’s mysterious dead body floating by.

Since the gunshots are eventually aimed toward Zion, Greg may be the one on the other side of the barrel. One major theory that continues to gain more traction is that The White Lotus season 3 will end with Greg being the one who dies, which could happen during the shootout at the Thailand resort. The hope is that both Zion and Belinda make it out of this week at The White Lotus' resort alive, and that they’re able to expose Greg for his crimes before leaving Thailand.
