Warning! This article contains spoilers for Silo season 2's episode 7.

Silo season 2 episode 7's ending cliffhanger is shocking because it hints at the presence of a third person.

With three more episodes left for the Apple TV+ sci-fi show's second season to end, the truth about Solo's fate and the identity of his attacker will likely be revealed soon. However, till then, viewers can speculate on how the revelations surrounding the character's story will unfold based on the plot developments so far. Given how Silo's creators have always managed to keep audiences on their toes, it seems likely that the Solo twist will lead to something unexpected. It is still hard not to theorize who the third person could be in Silo 17.

5 Solo's Attacker Is Another Survivor Of Silo 17's Rebellion

The Survivor Must Be Seeking Revenge

Perhaps the most plausible theory that explains Silo season 2 episode 7's ending is that Solo was attacked by another survivor from Silo 17's rebellion. In Silo season 2's early moments, Juliette asked Solo the reason behind his name. The Steve Zahn character responded by saying that he named himself Solo because he lives by himself in Silo 17. However, Juliette soon learned that he could not have been the only survivor of Silo 17's rebellion.

Unbeknownst to Solo, one of the Silo 17 survivors must still be out there, determined to exact revenge on Solo for killing the others.

After looking around his vault, she noticed a few dead bodies and realized they were not as old as the ones outside Silo 17. This made her suspect that more people might have survived the rebellion than Solo lets on, and the survivors might have tried to enter his vault. However, Solo likely prevented them from breaking in by murdering them. Unbeknownst to Solo, one of the Silo 17 survivors must still be out there, determined to exact revenge on Solo for killing the others.

4 The Attacker Is A Traveler From Another Silo

The Traveler's Quest For Survival Might Have Led Them To Silo 17

Another theory that makes sense is that the attacker must be a traveler, like Juliette, from another Silo. In Silo season 2's early moments, Solo recalls Silo 17's history and reveals that, like Juliette, a man from their silo somehow survived the harsh conditions of the outside world and walked beyond the hills before disappearing into the horizon. The man's survival was the main reason why Silo's Mechanical started a rebellion and eventually headed out.

Given that there are 50 silos, it is hard not to believe that many humans, like Juliette, might have found the truth about the IT's tape in their respective silos. Similar to Juliette, they, too, must have gotten access to the good heat tape before leaving their silos to clean, allowing them to survive outside. Or, like Solo, they must have somehow found a way to protect themselves while the remaining citizens of their city perished. Solo's attacker in Silo season 2's episode 7 could be one of these survivors. However, why the survivor tries to harm Juliette and Solo remains a mystery.

3 The Silos' Higher Authorities Sent The Attacker

Killing Juliette Might Be The Attacker's Main Objective

Time and again, Apple TV+'s Silo has hinted that the Head of IT in each underground bunker is a mere puppet to more powerful forces. In one of Silo season 2's previous episodes, Lukas also discovered that the IT is connected to an external power source, hinting that someone is secretly monitoring and influencing all decisions in Silo 18 from afar. While only time will tell who or what these powerful forces are, they must have sent a raider to Silo 17 to kill Juliette to ensure she does not return to Silo 18.

Silo season 2 is adapting the second half of Wool, which is the first book in Hugh Howey's Silo trilogy.

Since Solo was trying to help Juliette, he probably became a victim of the larger scheme. When Juliette first arrived in Silo 17 and tried to swing from one end of the underground city to another using a rope, someone cut her rope and tried to kill her. This suggests that whoever attacked Solo had also been trying to target Juliette from the beginning, implying that killing Juliette might have been their primary motive and Solo was merely an unintended casualty who got in the way.

2 Bernard Arranged For The Attacker After Learning About Juliette's Survival

He Knew Where Juliette Went After Leaving Silo 18

After Juliette refused to clean Silo 18's sensor and survived long enough to disappear beyond the camera's field of view, Bernard kept a close eye on where she was going through the camera on her helmet. He could see her point of view as she stepped over hundreds of corpses before entering Silo 17. Since he has known where she went from the beginning, he might have hired someone and secretly sent them out to kill Juliette.

Or, Bernard might have informed the silos' higher authorities about Juliette's departure, and they might have sent someone to Silo 17 to get her out of the way. However, this theory seems a little less plausible because Bernard seems too fixated on the things happening inside Silo 18. He has way too much on his hands and has probably assumed that Juliette is dead.

1 Solo Intentionally Abandoned Juliette In Silo Season 2 Episode 7's Ending

Solo's Behavior Has Been Erratic Throughout Silo Season 2

Solo had suddenly become aggressive when Juliette confronted him in a previous episode and questioned his identity. Before agreeing to help him in Silo season 2's episode 7, Juliette does the same again, reminding him that he is not the Head of IT's shadow. This raises the possibility that Solo intentionally abandoned Juliette in the episode's final moments and is trying to hurt her because she previously doubted his identity. He probably fears Juliette will uncover the truth about his past and motives, which would expose the carefully constructed facade he’s been maintaining.

However, this theory does not explain the trail of blood Juliette finds after she swims to the surface and attempts to find Solo. The closing shot in Silo season 2's episode 7 also suggests that someone is watching Juliette from a distance. Similar "distant" camera angles were also featured in Silo season 2's episodes 1 and 2, hinting that Solo and Juliette are not the only people in the deserted underground city.
