Kagurabachi is a fairly new Shonen Jump manga, but it’s already made a big name for itself. While the fandom for Kagurabachi started ironically due to how dark and edgy the initial presentation was, the strong writing and action made it genuinely popular worldwide, and it’s already become one of the most popular Shonen Jump manga in recent years.
Kagurabachi is on its way to becoming the next big thing, and all it needs to complete that is an anime. A Kagurabachi anime is allegedly in development courtesy of CygamesPictures, and while it hasn’t been officially confirmed, everything that’s made Kagurabachi such an unexpected hit could easily translate into one of the biggest anime adaptations of the decade. There are a few reasons, in particular, why that’s something to look forward to, and as Kagurabachi’s story continues, those reasons are only going to get stronger.
7 Kagurabachi Is Shōnen Jump’s Most Popular New Manga
Kagurabachi's Financial Success Can't Be Understated
There are many times when the popularity of a new Shōnen Jump manga isn’t reflective of its actual success, but that’s not the case with Kagurabachi. Despite barely being a year old, Kagurabachi has sold over 1.3 million books worldwide; that sales figure is impressive on its own, but it's especially impressive when compared to Jujutsu Kaisen, which was slightly outpaced by Kagurabachi by only selling 1.1 million in that same timeframe. Kagurabachi has had some of the biggest success for a new Shōnen Jump manga, and it will only get bigger as the years go by.
Kagurabachi’s financial success cannot be denied, and that’s why it needs to get an anime as soon as possible. A great anime adaptation is the easiest way for a manga to get a boost in popularity, and with how popular Kagurabachi is already, the boost in popularity Kagurabachi would get from an anime is exactly what it needs to definitively become one of the biggest manga in the world. It’s all pragmatic more than anything, but with how great Kagurabachi is, that’s still something to look forward to.
6 Shōnen Jump Needs A New Anime To Draw In Fans, ASAP
Shōnen Jump Is Struggling Too Much To Ignore Kagurabachi
Right now, Shōnen Jump is poised to lose its status as the most popular manga magazine. With My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen both finished and One Piece slowly heading toward its finale, Shōnen Jump is slowly losing its biggest stories, meaning that Shōnen Jump is running the risk of drastically dropping off in popularity due to not having anything to draw people in. There hasn’t been a situation like this since Dragon Ball and Slam Dunk ended in the 1990s, and with how much the industry has grown since then, things could be even more disastrous.
Shōnen Jump needs a new hit, and that’s where Kagurabachi comes in. While manga like Undead Unluck, Sakamoto Days, and Akane-banashi have all found success, none have found success to the same extent as Kagurabachi, so Kagurabachi getting an anime is the best chance Shōnen Jump has of maintaining readership in the wake of My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen’s conclusions and One Piece’s imminent finale. It might be too early to put Kagurabachi in that position, but with it generating so much hype, it makes sense to push it when it will be easiest to capitalize on its popularity.
5 Kagurabachi Is The Perfect Series For Anyone Missing Jujutsu Kaisen
Kagurabachi Is Jujutsu Kaisen's Perfect Successor
Regarding Shonen Jump losing its most popular titles, Jujutsu Kaisen’s ending is an especially big loss. Jujutsu Kaisen’s financial success is one thing, but more than that, Jujutsu Kaisen’s incredible artwork and fight scenes, coupled with its great character writing, made it one of the best Shonen Jump manga to read in years, and the anime’s perfect adaptation of that was the biggest reason the series was so quick to become a worldwide phenomenon. The final arc might have been divisive for various reasons, but even that does nothing to diminish the impact Jujutsu Kaisen had, and rightfully so.
The end of Jujutsu Kaisen is a big deal, and that’s why a Kagurabachi anime is so important. Jujutsu Kaisen with its dynamic action and thoughtful character writing, so that means that Kagurabachi’s hypothetical anime could be a perfect substitute for Jujutsu Kaisen thanks to its similar action and writing. There’s no telling how long it will take for Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 to come out, let alone how long it will take for the anime to finish, but with a Kagurabachi anime, that would never be a problem.
4 Kagurabachi Has Some Of The Best Writing Of Any Current Shonen Jump Manga
Why Kagurabachi's Writing Is So Good
A Kagurabachi anime, naturally, would be good for reasons unrelated to profits or other manga, and a major one can be found in its writing. When Kagurabachi was first revealed, people immediately made fun of it for the edginess of its premise, and the writing of the first few chapters unfortunately didn’t do much to change people’s minds. As the series went on, however, Kagurabachi’s writing slowly became great thanks to its entertaining cast and its engaging narrative, and the edginess of its story is persistently balanced out with good comedy and genuine heart, as well.
Kagurabachi has far better writing than people thought it would, and that’s why an anime would be great to see. An anime adaptation is often the easiest way for the strengths of a manga to reach a wider audience, and because of that, a Kagurabachi anime would be an easy way for people to see how great the writing for the series is. If the direction of the anime works to further emphasize its strengths, then that would also work to make the writing even stronger than what was presented in the manga, and that, of course, would be great to see.
3 A Kagurabachi Anime Is The Best Chance To Show Off How Great Its Hero Is
Chihiro Is One Of The Best Protagonists In Shonen Jump, Right Now
Regarding Kagurabachi’s writing, a lot of its strengths come from its protagonist, Chihiro Rokuhira. In the early chapters, Chihiro’s quest for vengeance and the dramatic way he expresses his hatred for his father’s killers was a source of mockery among fans, and it was one of the biggest contributors to the original ironic fandom. As the series went on, however, Kagurabachi gradually made Chihiro a genuinely endearing protagonist by emphasizing his heroism in the face of tragedy and giving him genuinely great character development, all of which is perfectly complemented by the consistently great fight scenes Chihiro is involved in.
Chihiro is a surprisingly great protagonist, and an anime could do a lot to help sell that. As previously discussed, an anime adaptation can do a lot to help the strengths of a manga reach a wider audience, so with the proper adaptation, a Kagurabachi anime could do a lot to further endear people to Chihiro’s character, especially if the anime does things to further expand on the strengths of his character. Chihiro’s one of the best Shonen Jump protagonists in recent years, and an anime is the perfect chance to show people why.
2 Kagurabachi’s Artwork Would Look Incredible In Animation
Why Kagurabachi's Art Is So Good
More so than the writing, what’s done a lot to draw people into Kagurabachi is its gorgeous artwork. While the art might seem fairly simple at first glance, not only does it lend itself to expressive and all-around great character designs, but Kagurabachi’s art style has consistently lent itself to gorgeous art spreads chapter after chapter, especially whenever someone uses the dynamic and often surreal powers of one of the Enchanted Blades.
Kagurabachi has an incredibly strong art style, and an anime would do wonders in helping to sell that. Animated adaptations of print media tend to be the best way of bringing the quality of someone’s art to life and outright enhancing it, and with how great the art in Kagurabachi is in print, a Kagurabachi anime would be an easy way of making the already gorgeous artwork look even better. Stellar visuals are the easiest way for an anime to become big, and with a good adaptation, Kagurabachi could easily be the latest example of such.
1 Kagurabachi’s Fight Scenes Are Too Good Not To Be Animated
Kagurabachi Has Some Of The Best Action In Shonen Jump
Going off of the artwork, the biggest draw to Kagurabachi is undoubtedly its fight scenes. It’s been stated that Kagurabachi’s Takeru Hokazono was inspired by Western films and directors known for their stylish action and cinematic productions like John Wick, Kill Bill, and the works of David Fincher, Christopher Nolan, and Quentin Tarantino, and sure enough, every fight in Kagurabachi is filled with incredible choreography and creative composition, no matter how minor a fight it may be.
Kagurabachi has some of the best action of any Shonen Jump manga, and that’s the biggest reason why it needs an anime. Anime like Jujutsu Kaisen, Mob Psycho 100, and Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End are constantly praised for how much their animation enhances the fight scenes of their source material, and with how good the fights are in Kagurabachi, a Kagurabachi anime could elevate its fight scenes into some of the most gorgeous action in modern anime. There’s no better reason to be excited about a Kagurabachi anime, and with any luck, it’ll come out sooner, rather than later.
