The Wolverine is an amazing warrior and superhero, but he's not always the easiest person to get along with. Older and grumpier than his appearance might imply, Logan has watched dozens of friends and family die over the years, not to mention gone head-to-head with heroes and villains alike.

Whether due to anger, politics, mind control, or just a bad mood, Wolverine has fought plenty of heroes. These are the most intense fights Wolverine has fought against his fellow Marvel heroes.

10 Wolverine Brutally Killed The Young Hero Northstar

Wolverine #25 by Mark Millar, John Romita Jr, Klaus Janson, Paul Mounts, and Randy Gentile

During the events of Enemy of the State, Wolverine was brainwashed by The Hand. This turned Wolverine into their perfect killing machine, and during a brutal plot to kill the President of the United States, Wolverine ended up slaughtering the young hero Northstar.

Wolverine did a lot of bad things during this time, but killing Northstar is by far the worst. The young hero was stabbed through the chest and then his body was recovered by Hydra, who revived him and used him as a leader for one of their mutant death cults. So, not only did a fight with Wolverine result in his death, but it ended up transforming him into a villain as well.

9 Daredevil Has A Terrible Win Record Against Wolverine

Daredevil #7 by Saladin Ahmed, Aaron Kuder, Jesus Aburtov, and Clayton Cowles.

Daredevil is one of the greatest martial artists in the world, but he has continually struggled to defeat Wolverine over the years. While the two haven't fought often, the times they have, Wolverine won with ease, and the second time Daredevil barely beat Wolverine in a fight due to his mental state. When Wolverine was under the control of The Hand, he ambushed Matt Murdock in his apartment.

The only reason Matt survived the encounter was because he wasn't Wolverine's real target, and Logan regained control of his mind for a few seconds. In the second instance, Wolverine was possessed by the sin of Lust, specifically Matt's lust for violence. This led to the two fighting, and Daredevil luckily survived by knocking Wolverine into a nearby river, buying him enough time to exorcise the demon from Logan.

8 Wolverine & Colossus Are Headed For Another Brutal Battle

Wolverine: Revenge by Jonathan Hickman, Greg Capullo, Tim Townsend, FCO Plascencia, and Cory Petit

Wolverine and Colossus are typically friends, but Wolverine: Revenge finds a massive EMP shutting down all the world's electronics following Magneto's death. Wolverine, Winter Soldier, and Captain America travel to Russia (the only place that still has working electricity) to find Colossus has decided to side with Russia over the rest of the world, and has no intention of giving up his country's only means of power.

This results in Colossus, Sabretooth, and Deadpool implanting a bomb in Wolverine, Captain America, and Winter Soldier. While Wolverine survives thanks to his healing factor, the other two aren't so lucky. Now, hellbent on revenge, Wolverine is definitely going to come to a violent confrontation with his former friend.

7 Elektra Beat Wolverine With Ease

Wolverine #21 – Written by Mark Millar; Art by John Romita, Jr; Ink by Klaus Janson; Color By Paul Mounts; Lettering By Rus Wooton

After Wolverine was killed and resurrected as a Hand agent, he was found by S.H.I.E.L.D. and brought back to a helicarrier base for medical care. Unaware that Wolverine was brainwashed, no one aboard the helicarrier had any idea of how much danger they were in. They quickly found out when Wolverine broke free of his restraints and went on a murderous rampage through the base. Surprisingly, Elektra was able to defeat Wolverine quickly and easily.

Using the element of surprise and attacking his nerve centers, Elektra managed to paralyze Wolverine. This is honestly one of the best ways to deal with Logan, as he's incredibly dangerous in close-quarters combat, but has no heat vision or teleportation to worry about. Simply restraining Wolverine is an instant win, and Elektra pulled it off expertly.

6 The Punisher Took Wolverine Down in Brutal Fashion

The Punisher (Vol. 6) #17 by Garth Ennis, Darick Robertson, Nelson, Matt Milla, Wes Abbott, and Richard Starkings

Most would think a fight between Wolverine and the Punisher would be overwhelmingly in Wolverine's favor, but that surprisingly wasn't the case. Wolverine is one of the most deadly characters possible when he's at melee range. But if someone keeps him at a distance, there's really not much Wolverine can do. That's exactly what Punisher did, slowing Wolverine with stunning attacks, like a shotgun to the face... or groin.

While Wolverine's healing factor makes these injuries minor, they still take him out of the battle. This culminated in Punisher getting a steamroller and parking it on top of Wolverine, ending the fight by simply restricting Logan's ability to follow.

5 Wolverine Has Fought Captain America Several Times

Captain America Annual #8, by Mark Gruenwald, Mike Zeck, Josef Rubenstein, John Beatty, Glynis Oliver, and Jim Novak

The pair's first fight was due to a disagreement over the fact that Wolverine was more willing than most heroes to kill his enemies, which Captain America did not agree with. At the time, Wolverine was relatively new on the scene, while Captain America was nearly at the height of his popularity, so Logan was defeated more easily than he rightly should have been.

The second fight would be during Avengers vs. X-Men, where despite Wolverine trying his best to supply Captain America with information about what Cyclops was planning, Captain America would grow distrustful of both Wolverine and the X-Men in general. This would lead to a full-out brawl between the two, and Wolverine did much better this time, nearly winning, before Ant-Man stepped in and gave Captain America some help.

4 Deadpool & Wolverine Have Been Fighting For Decades

Wolverine: Origins #21 by Daniel Way, Steve Dillon, Matt Milla, and Corey Petit

When it comes to fan-favorite fights, they both have equally strong, but opposite healing factors.

This means a fight between the two can be as bloody and graphic as thestorytellers wish, and it doesn't really matter. They can cut off each other's arms, cut off their heads, stab them through the stomachs, blow each other up, and they'll come right back as if nothing happened. No wonder fans can't get enough.

3 Cyclops & Wolverine's Complicated Relationship Led To A Major Fight

X-Men: Schism #4 by Jason Aaron, Alan Davis, Adam Kubert, Mark Farmer, Mark Roslan, Jason Keith, and Jared K. Fletcher

Wolverine and Cyclops have had a supremely complicated relationship over the decades. Unsurprising, since Wolverine and Cyclops both love the same woman. Remaining cordial most of the time, their tensions finally boiled over during X-Men: Schism, after Cyclops essentially used a child soldier in battle, infuriating Wolverine to the point of attack.

As this fight was eventually interrupted by a sentinel, there was no clear winner, and while they both walked away without any real injuries, the build-up to this fight made it a much more emotionally vicious experience than a physical one.

2 Wolverine & Spider-Man's Fight Resulted In Someone's Death

Spider-Man Versus Wolverine #1 by Jim Owsley, Mark Bright, Al Williamson, Petra Scotese, and Bill Oakley

Another great, but lesser-seen pairing, has always been Wolverine and Spider-Man. They work similarly to Deadpool and Wolverine, but their first fight ended up much darker. Taking place in Berlin during the Cold War, Spider-Man is there as a reporter, and Wolverine ends up running into an ex-girlfriend. While Wolverine is hesitant but willing to grant her wish of a clean death, rather than the consequences of her past misdeeds, he's stopped by Spider-Man, who believes she needs to pay for the crimes she committed as a spy.

This results in a major fight between the two, and while Wolverine ultimately loses, he still gets what he wants in the end. After Spider-Man takes Wolverine down, he turns his back. When his spider-sense goes off, he assumes it's Wolverine coming back for a strike, and immediately throws a full-force punch straight into the spy, killing her instantly.

1 Hulk vs Wolverine Has Always Been His Most Intense Fight

Incredible Hulk #180 by Len Wein, Herb Trimpe, Jack Abel, Christie Scheele, and Artie Simek

The first superhero that Wolverine ever went up against was the Hulk, and it remains his most brutal fight so far. There have been tons of instances of the two fighting, from their first encounter in the Canadian wilderness to the dark future of Old Man Logan. Hulk has even torn Wolverine in half and left him for dead. There simply aren't any other characters on this list who have pushed Wolverine to the limits, and often quite literally left him in pieces.

While the two are capable of working together, they also have more of a history of fighting each other than almost anyone else. The Hulk is one of the few characters that Wolverine ends up killing at some point, as in the Old Man Logan universe, Wolverine ends up killing not just the Hulk but the entire Hulk Clan that was roaming the ruins of California after the end of the world.
