Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Wolverine #29

In the latest issue of Marvel Comics' Sabretooth. In recent issues, the very corrupt Beast interrupted Wolverine's resurrection process, resulting in a major loss of memory which turned Logan into a feral beast. Using a biotech collar to keep Wolverine in line, Logan has been sent on secret kill missions that the rest of X-Force aren't even aware of. However, Wolverine was freed from his imprisonment by the living island of Krakoa itself, only to be sent to The Pit (Krakoa's mutant prison) due to the overwhelming nature of Logan's pain and rage.

Now, the new Wolverine #29 from Benjamin Percy and Juan José Ryp sees Logan fighting to free himself from Krakoa's organic prison, the very same realm where Krakoa had been holding Victor Creeds's Sabretooth for breaking the laws of the mutant nation. While Creed recently broke out and left Krakoa, he still imprinted on The Pit, effectively leaving a part of himself behind like a corruptive virus. As such, Wolverine finds himself fighting a plant-based Sabretooth, providing the perfect opportunity for Logan to give a breakdown of their rivalry ever since their dark days in the Weapon X program.

Wolverine vs Krakoan Sabretooth

Although Logan's words about his pain and Creed's hate carry significant weight, Wolverine goes on to share the immense relief he feels by simply fighting this shadow of the real Sabretooth. Fighting Creed helps remind Wolverine of who he should be, someone who "fights against everything Sabretooth represents". It's an incredibly palpable showdown, one that helps recenter Logan after all the abuse he's recently endured thanks to Beast.

Keeping that in mind, Beast is certainly next on Logan's list of enemies who need to be taken care of. While Hank McCoy might be able to evade the Krakoa's Quiet Council leaders, there's no doubt that he'll soon be facing Wolverine's wrath in the issues to come. That being said, the collar Beast made to control Wolverine proves to be incredibly useful against this Sabretooth virus, allowing Logan to finally remove its influence over Krakoa and the Pit.

By the issue's end, Logan emerges from the depths of Krakoa victorious while also confirming that he'll never be rid of Sabretooth as a fore. Their rivalry is destined to continue so long as they're both living. Now, the time has come for Wolverine to turn his claws on Beast whose reckoning is long overdue in the Marvel Universe. Wolverine #29 is on sale now from Marvel Comics.
