With more than 600 episodes and a successful spin-off titled Boruto, Naruto has a myriad of characters that the viewers can relate to and empathize with. This includes the titular character, who was determined to become the best ninja in Konoha, despite growing up as an orphan and social outcast.
That being said, the beloved anime series also has a handful of characters who have arguably irredeemable traits. From the useless Udon to the obsessive Karin, there are some characters in Naruto that are strongly disliked by the anime's fans on Ranker.
Sasuke Uchiha
Sasuke has made plenty of mistakes. While some fans justify Sasuke's actions by saying that he lost his family and is driven by revenge, there's still no acceptable reason for betraying the Hidden Leaf Village and murdering countless people.
What's more, Sasuke is incredibly overpowered. Aside from having the Dojutso Sharingan thanks to his clan, he can also conjure the destructive Susanoo and use the six paths technique thanks to his Rinnegan. Moreover, fans also think that Sasuke is a horrible husband to Sakura and father to Sarada, as he left his family in Konohagakure to gain more power.
Udon Ise
Udon didn't play a huge role in any of the events in Naruto. He was known for being the quiet member of the Konohamaru Ninja Squad, which was led by the Naruto fanatic Konohamaru Sarutobi. In the scenes that he was in, Udon often stated that he likes math, and was even seen doing math problems in class.
However, some fans strongly disliked Udon since he didn't have a striking personality, unlike most of the characters in Naruto. What's more, viewers found Udon to be disgusting, since his nose is constantly dripping with snot.
Boruto Uzumaki
There are plenty of reasons why some fans of the Naruto franchise chose to not follow its spin-off Boruto. For one, the show has abandoned plenty of interesting characters from Naruto, such as the toad sages and Baki. But the biggest reason why Boruto isn't as well-received as Naruto is due to its titular protagonist.
Because he's the Hokage's son, Boruto tends to act like a spoiled brat and forgets that his father has a lot on his plate. Fans were also irked by Boruto's cheating scandal during the Chunin Exams.
Kaguya Otsutsuki
The Otsutsuki matriarch Kaguya serves as one of the most powerful villains in the Naruto universe. After consuming the fruit of the God Tree, Kaguya became the first chakra wielder in the world. Kaguya has god-like abilities such as erasing people's memories and performing interstellar teleportation.
However, viewers of the show didn't like how Kaguya was written into the story. Unlike Madara, who was built up as a villain over several arcs, fans felt like Kaguya was just dropped into the world of Naruto without properly fleshing out who she is and what her motives are.
Ebisu
In Naruto, Ebisu is an instructor who was once in a team with Might Guy and Genma Shiranui. He's not shown to wield any special Jutsus or techniques, but that might be due to the fact that Ebisu didn't play a significant role in the franchise.
However, Ebisu is largely unpopular with the show's fans, as he's a huge bully who teased twelve-year-old Naruto for being an orphan. What's more, viewers disliked Ebisu's perverted nature, as he often swooned over Naruto whenever the young ninja used Sexy Jutsu.
Sakura Haruno
Despite being a main character in Naruto and a core member of Team 7, Sakura still has plenty of haters in the anime community. This is due to her cruel treatment of Naruto when they were still young. What's more, she didn't show any special skills or trained hard enough unlike her peers.
However, Sakura did become an apprentice of Lady Tsunade and learned how to become a competent medical ninja. She does have a very iconic ninja look, and fans of the series would often cosplay as her.
Karin
Karin was a huge part of Sasuke's entourage in his quest to kill his brother. She had the special ability to heal those who bite her thanks to her unique chakra.
What Naruto fans didn't like about Karin is her obsession with Sasuke. In fact, she even instantly forgives Sasuke after being stabbed by him. Compared to Sakura, Karin's Sasuke obsession is way worse. She's also incredibly mean to Suigetsu, since she found the shinobi's chakra to be disgusting.
Yota
With over 600 episodes, there are a lot of characters in Naruto who have come and gone. Case in point, Yota, a young child from a traveling clan, is considered by fans of the shows to be one of the most meaningless characters in the whole series.
He has an irritating chant and his arc didn't add any value to the character development of the main characters he encountered. Also, Yota has seemingly decided that he was Naruto's first-ever friend, a pivotal position in the series that has long been held by Sasuke Uchiha.
Rasa
Rasa is the Fourth Kazikage of Sunagakure and is the father of Gaara, Temari, and Kankuro. Just like Naruto, Gaara has been ridiculed all his life for harboring a Jinchuriki inside him. However, it was not Gaara's choice to be the vessel for the One-Tailed Beast. To save the Hidden Sand Village, Rasa chose to seal the One-Tailed Beast in Gaara.
During the sealing process, Gaara's mother unfortunately died. This has also contributed to Gaara's misery, and Naruto fans couldn't look past what Rasa has done to the Fifth Kazekage.
Danzo Shimura
Without a doubt, Danzo is one of the most wicked and devious villains in anime history. Danzo is a power-hungry shinobi who wanted to become a Hokage in order to make arguably good decisions for the Hidden Leaf Village.
Stealing the eyes of the Uchiha clan, forcing 13-year-old Itachi to kill his family, and working with Orochimaru are just some of the evilest deeds that Danzo has done. He also failed to gain sympathy from the show's fans, even though the anime laid out Danzo's motives.
