After Syfy acquired the U.S. rights to Wynonna Earp in 2015, it was home to all four seasons of the hit supernatural-meets-Western drama.

Despite Syfy announcing that season 4 would end the series, the network's Canadian counterpart, CTV Sci-Fi Channel, never officially canceled Wynonna Earp. The not-so-clear-cut circumstances surrounding the show's finale left viewers optimistic about another chapter in the story. Even series creator Emily Andras shared her hopes for developing another tale set in the Wynonna Earp universe one day. Now, the existence of Wynonna Earp: Vengeance proves fandoms can win without resorting to toxicity. While not much is known about Vengeance's plot, Tubi revealed which Wynonna Earp actors and characters will return for the 90-minute movie.

Melanie Scrofano

Wynonna Earp

Without the series' titular character, there wouldn't be a Wynonna Earp: Vengeance. Played by Melanie Scrofano, Wynonna is the great-great-granddaughter of legendary Wild West lawmen Wyatt Earp. Armed with her ancestor's magic gun, Peacemaker, Wynonna is tasked with sending revenants — revived versions of outlaws Wyatt formerly killed — back to Hell. However, Wynonna's destiny doesn't just revolve around breaking her family's curse. Plenty of supernatural entities and demons wind up in her hometown of Purgatory, which definitely complicates the gun-slinging hero's mission at hand.

Wynonna Earp: How Each Character's Story Ended

All the characters that make up the Wynonna Earp family get hopeful endings to their stories as the SyFy supernatural western ends after four seasons.

Across its four seasons, Wynonna Earp was one of the best women-led shows on TV. The tough-talking, often-drinking Wynonna exuded an air of confidence, all while being plagued by self-doubt. That tough exterior paired with emotional vulnerability made her a rare TV hero. With Andras at the helm, the character of Wynonna Earp was created for a strong woman — her name wasn't just grafted on to the typical male hero archetype. That kind of care makes all the difference, and it's exactly why viewers can't wait to see Wynonna back in action.

Dominique Provost-Chalkley

Waverly Earp

There's no denying that the return of Waverly is a core part of Wynonna's team, which makes her official return in Vengeance incredibly exciting.

The Wynonna Earp Special Makes A Case For This Queer Supernatural Show's Return

Despite ending in 2021, cult hit Wynonna Earp is returning with a 90-minute special, which could be good news for another queer supernatural show.

While Waverly is a compelling, essential character in her own right, she's also one half of the series' most beloved couple. Waverly's relationship with Nicole Haught, dubbed Wayhaught, remains one of TV's most important relationships. By centering one of its core romances on a healthy, happy queer couple, Wynonna Earp challenged the status quo. To make matters even more exciting, the series never injected needless drama into the Wayhaught relationship. Shockingly, neither queer character died either. Although the series ended with Waverly and Nicole's wedding, viewers can't wait to see more of the couple.

Tim Rozon

Doc Holliday

A longtime ally of the Earps, Doc Holliday (Tim Rozon) becomes immortal, only to be trapped in a well for a century. While the 21st century is full of surprises for him, Doc proves his fierce loyalty. Throughout the series, Doc and Wynonna have a tumultuous romantic relationship; the two even have a daughter together. Although the Wynonna Earp finale seemed to set up Doc's death, the gunslinger lived. Afraid he and Wynonna couldn't make it work, he tried to leave town — only to have Wynonna shoot out his tires and him on a brand-new, family adventure.

Paolo Barzman, who directed 21 episodes of Wynonna Earp, will return for the special.

Katherine Barrell

Officer Nicole Haught

The other half of the Wayhaught relationship, Katherine Barrell's Officer Nicole Haught starts off as deputy sheriff of Ghost River County. The openly queer character's romance with Waverly begins early on in the series and continues throughout all four seasons. For a time, Nicole gives up her position as Purgatory's sheriff in order to protect the Earp homestead, though she reclaims her badge by the series' finale. Selfless and devoted, Nicole becomes the Ghost River Triangle's shield. In the finale, Haught and Waverly get married and settle down on the homestead, so it'll be exciting to see the couple again.
