With the immense popularity of Marvel's Disney+ shows, giving some more representation to previously ing characters, the possibilities are endless for the deep cast of mutants that the X-Men will bring. On a thread started by FictionFantom, fans discussed who they'd like to see having their own independent franchise in the MCU.

Magneto

Fans are extremely ionate towards the metal-bending villain Magneto, particularly after the great portrayals by both Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender. Though it would be great to bring the character back to the big screen, it's possible Marvel Studios will feel similarly to how they felt about the Green Goblin, and decide to try different villains instead.

Beast

Many fans expressed a desire for Wolverine to be a ing character for some time, as he was the center piece of the previous X-Men franchise. Fans seemed to be more partial to the other animal-like brawler in the X-Men team: Beast.

"If I had my pick I’d go with Beast. He’s my favorite of the team and he was also the first of that team to even get a solo run back in the day," says Redditor Koala_Guru. If the MCU wanted to follow in the comic's footsteps, a solo Beast movie or miniseries could be an awesome move.

Cyclops

After feeling like Scott Summers was the third wheel in his own relationship in the original X-Men trilogy, then underwhelmed by his two showings in the more recent X-Men films, fans of Cyclops hope for more from the character in the MCU.

Redditor Prudent_Dot3462 says "Cyclops. I just wanted my boy to be treated with some respect in a movie." Given the MCU's great track record of understanding and bringing the best out of their characters, surely this is on the table.

Professor X

Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy as Professor X in the X-Men Movies

Similarly with Magneto, both portrayals from Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy were excellent, and will be hard for the MCU to top. X-Men: First Class in particular did a tremendous job with Professor X's origin story.

"Xavier. Make him a brash adventurer that we follow through his younger days as he looks for other mutants, figures out his powers, amasses his fortune," says UrbanGimli. This idea could make for a fun film or series, and a good way to introduce them into the universe.

The Mutants

A broader term, and not a specific character. This , StarandIcon, who received much , suggested an anthology series, following a similar format as What If...? where each episode follows a different story.

"Every week a new young mutant with their powers emerging. As the series progresses we see them be offered assistance from a kindly old man in a wheelchair," they say. A Mutants show could be a really interesting way for the MCU to introduce some of the more obscure and lesser known mutants.

Gambit

Though a project was at one point announced, Gambit still hasn't made it to the big screen. It was Channing Tatum who was announced to play the role, and following through with that isn't out of the question. But regardless of actor, Gambit is a must have for the MCU.

"Gambit. I think they could do a ton of cool stuff with New Orleans and rural Louisiana as a setting," says Redditor howareyanow-goodnu. Marvel has had fun experiences in the past exploring new locations. Far From Home, for example. This could be another way to bring superhero action to a new town.

Emma Frost

In the comics, and also in X-Men: First Class, Emma Frost started off as one of the X-Men's main villains. The MCU hasn't had a full on villain to hero storyline, aside from glimpses from Loki. With the popularity of Loki, it's clear that MCU fans are interested in this type of conflict.

Redditor DracarysDRV says "Emma frost so much potential there. Just about her rise to power. With no true 'good guy' just people on different levels of evil and Emma just doing what she has to in order to survive." Fans have recently enjoyed superhero shows taking new and unique approaches to the genre.

Magik

Though the New Mutants film wasn't much of a success, Anya Taylor-Joy was a highlight. There's no surprise there! But so much to the point where fans want to see her return as her role of Magik. Side by side photos of comic character to movie portrayal show that she was all too perfect for the role.

Delmarvalous says "Magik and keep Anya Taylor-Joy. She was the best part of New Mutants. Loved how she played the character." Anya could fit so many characters yet to be casted in the MCU, but this could be an interesting niche to popularize a lesser known mutant.

Nightcrawler

Nightcrawler is a mutant that really deserves an opportunity to shine. He's one of the reasons X2 was such a hit, with the White House action sequence being very ahead of it's time in of visual effects.

"Nightcrawler 100%. He’s always been really interesting and cool to me. I just recently found out he’s Mystique’s son, which blew my mind. Would like to see that backstory," says BevsHeadonFire. Mystique was used plentifully in the recent X-Men films, so this would also be a good way to use the character for a more ing role.

Storm

The original poster presented the Reddit thread with an awesome looking "Marvel Studios: Storm" title card graphic. It's no surprise that Storm is such a hit, given how powerful she is in the comics and movies. She took a backseat in previous X-Men movies, so giving her a solo run would be a great way to display her depth.
