x-men's Archangel angel new powers and sword

Years ago, Angel was captured and experimented on by the mutant supremacist Apocalypse. Angel was transformed, gaining metal wings made up of poisoned blades, and gaining immense strength and durability as well as a psychotic need for violence. Angel has worked hard to suppress his Archangel form, but after a recent injury in the pages of X-Factor, he reveals that he underwent extra surgeries to bring back his predatory transformation.

Easily the deadliest part of Archangel's new form is his ability to roll into a deadly ball of spinning blades, arranging his deadly wings so that he becomes a human buzzsaw. Archangel uses this powers to chase a terrified Beast, who learns a hard lesson about underestimating his former classmate.

Warren Worthington III's Angel has long been the least popular of the original X-Men, with his powers paling in comparison compared to those of his closest allies - indeed, even Xavier had Warren fight using a custom bazooka for a while, knowing his mutant abilities as Angel weren't enough to win the day (but having a major need for his inherited fortune.) Sadly, the Archangel form has never been just about new powers - it's the darkest part of Angel's psyche brought to the surface, and is likely to tempt the founding X-Men hero further and further into darkness as X-Factor continues.

X-Factor #8 is available now from Marvel Comics.
