Warning: SPOILERS for Sins of Sinister #1

The Mr. Sinister, once looked upon as a C-list nonthreatening villain, has quickly become the most threatening enemy of the X-Men in the last few years. Sins of Sinister #1 proves this in spades as the Krakoa reboot is out - and the Sinister reboot is in.

In past issues, Mr. Sinister realized he could clone Moira MacTaggart to use her unique power in a bid for power of his own. When Moira is killed, her mutant ability activates and sends her back in time to the moment of her birth - or in the case of a clone Moira, creation. When Sinister realizes he can store information in the clone's mind, he begins receiving information from the future whenever those clones are killed. Using this method, Sinister obtains information on future events...allowing him to seize power.

In Sins of Sinister #1, written by Keiron Gillen with art by Lucas Werneck, Sinster manipulates the genes of every mutant on Krakoa - and when they die, they're resurrected with a red diamond on their foreheads, signifying a Sinister clone. Using this method, Sinister rewrites the entire timeline to the moment of Krakoa's creation. The very first pages of the issue are a direct homage to the now-classic Dawn of X #1, in which Professor Xavier looks upon newly-resurrected mutant...but this time Sinister is standing in Charles' place.

Mr. Sinister Replaces Professor Xavier In The X-Men's Newest Reboot

Mr. Sinister reboots the Krakoa reboot

For years, X-Men fans have wondered precisely how the Krakoa reboot would be done away with, or if it would disappear at all. Now they have their answer: Professor X's peaceful island is distorted into a land of Mr. Sinister clones and zero individuality. While the X-Men retain their personalities, they have zero morals, and all listen to the original Sinister (though not without a healthy amount of bickering). Sinister uses his power to infect humans too, and strategically "disappear" all dissenters as quickly and silently as possible.

To make matters worse, the X-Men cannot simply die and resurrect without Sinister's influence; their entire genetic structure is tampered with to such an extent that the original mutant no longer exists. If anything of the original Professor Xavier's consciousness remains, it is buried beneath Mr. Sinister's imprint. The Krakoa era has come to a close as the Mr. Sinister era reboots the rebooted X-Men franchise anew.
