As the X-Men franchise introduces a slew of young mutant heroes, one series is also heading back to the past, unveiling a team who fought for the cause almost 100 years ago. As Louisiana becomes the new hub for Rogue’s X-Men team, the mutant heroes of the area's past are being explored for the first time in the pages of Marvel Comics, and their story will influence the franchise’s future.
Marvel’s preview for Uncanny X-Men #15, written by Gail Simone with art by David Marquez, continues telling the tale of a powerful mutant named Henrietta 'Henry' Benjamin and her quest to lay her deceased mother to rest in New Orleans. When she is about to lay the smack down on a murderous villain, Henry is introduced to the Haven House's mutant protectors.
Three people stop Henry from killing the human threat, and with their cool character designs and powers on display, readers will already want to know more about the mutants of the Haven House’s past and their unique origin stories.

X-Men Explains How Its Unique New Mutant Power Actually Works
The X-Men's latest addition to the team has an impressive set of powers, and Marvel has finally shared more insight into what this ability entails.
X-Men Introduces an Exciting Lineup of Mutant Heroes From Another Era
Uncanny X-Men #15 by Gail Simone, David Marquez, Matthew Wilson, and VC’s Clayton Cowles
As Henry’s story takes shape almost a century in the Marvel Universe’s past, the mutants of New Orleans’ Haven House have arrived to flesh out a lost piece of X-Men history. Just after she shows off her incredible mutant abilities with an obsidian rock form and the ability to create large, rock-like creatures, the series follows up Lady Henrietta’s extraordinary demonstration of power by debuting more mutant heroes who could fight alongside her. Of the three new people Henry meets in the preview for Uncanny X-Men #15, two of them are seemingly confirmed as mutants, with their abilities on display.

61 Years Later, Marvel Introduces the X-Men's Original Magneto, And They're Unbelievably Dark
There's a mutant in history who pre-dates the dark menace that Magneto brought to the X-Men franchise. Readers aren't ready for how dark they get.
Though the X-Men have been introducing many new teenage heroes across the 'From the Ashes' era, the characters of the Haven House are more seasoned and mature, and the that introduces them and their mutant abilities is seriously compelling. An older woman juggles some kind of balled-up energy, and another bespectacled man has four arms and a gun for each hand. Though the gray-bearded man who speaks to Henrietta doesn’t have any visible powers yet, he still could be a strong new mutant hero, and it will be fascinating to see how the series follows these characters’ introductions.
The Haven House’s Hidden History Could Inform the X-Men Franchise’s Future
More of the Artery’s Secrets Will Soon Be Revealed
The Haven House has been around since the first issue of the relaunched Uncanny X-Men, and various hints to the area's history are finally paying off, with more ties to broader mutant lore than anybody expected. Gambit brought the team to the Haven House, which is owned by the St. Juniors family, because it was a safe haven for the hero himself when he was a child. Now, as Gambit and Rogue take on the responsibility of training a new class of mutants, the New Orleans land has become a sort of substitute for Xavier’s school.

As Xavier Leaves the Franchise, X-Men Is Setting Up a New Meaning for the Team's Name
Professor X is heading to space for Imperial, and a forgotten figure from the X-Men’s past might be giving new meaning to the franchise and its name.
The biggest secret that’s currently unfolding about the Haven House is the Artery, a hidden cavern that houses a forgotten piece of mutant history, protected by Man-Thing and Lady Henrietta. As the young new X-Men heroes discover and explore the Artery, the land's owner Marcus St. Juniors makes it clear that he thinks they have a right to know about some kind of buried secret. Marcus’ connection to mutants has been vaguely mysterious, though his daughter is confirmed to have powers, but he could also be related to one of the new characters introduced in the preview for Uncanny X-Men #15.
Could the X-Men Get a New Period Piece Spin-Off Devoted to Haven House’s Lost Generation?
The Century-Old Mutants Are Immediately Intriguing
Though much of the story of these historical mutants is still shrouded in mystery, it’s clear that the secrets being uncovered are important to X-Men history and these powerful new characters could even alter the future of mutantkind. Lady Henrietta is already a seriously interesting character, and as her world is fleshed out, she could prove to be a guiding figure and leader for the X-Men’s future. Perhaps Marvel Comics could even give this budding historical team their own series.
When the X-Men were first introduced, they were written as a new phenomenon - people mutated by atomic energy. However, in today's canon they've been around since prehistoric times, meaning there's a lot of unknown history to how homo superior survived in the past. Lady Henrietta's faction seem primed to reveal a whole new chapter from X-Men's history - one that's already so fascinating, it wouldn't be surprising for Marvel to turn these side characters into a spin-off success.
Uncanny X-Men #15 will be available May 28, 2025, from Marvel Comics!
