May 26, 2026, will, hopefully, be the day important locations throughout the title. GTA 6 is still a year away, though, so now's the best time to replay all the prior installments.

However, with that much time, why not go even bigger and marathon every Rockstar game before GTA 6? There are a lot of Rockstar games, but not an overabundance of them, which makes this task doable. If you want to have the best marathon experience in preparation for GTA 6, Xbox Series X|S might be the best way to play. It has the largest number of Rockstar games of any console, and it still contains the best versions of GTA 4 and Red Dead Redemption 1.

The Xbox Series X|S Has The Best Rockstar Games Selection

There Are So Many Games Available On One System

When comparing the Xbox store, the PlayStation store, and Steam, the former surprisingly has the most impressive selection of Rockstar games available for purchase. One might think Steam should have the most, given that Rockstar has its roots in PC gaming, but it isn't that simple. Xbox has all the standard Rockstar releases that are on most platforms, like GTA: The Definitive Edition, GTA 5, Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2, and L.A. Noire.

Lindsay Lohan Suing Rockstar Games Over GTA 5 Was A Cultural Moment Even GTA 6 Can't Top

GTA 6 already has a lot of publicity, but it probably won't be the subject of any high-profile legal cases like Lindsay Lohan's lawsuit against GTA 5.

The complete GTA 4 package is also on Xbox, and it's the only modern platform where you can still play the amazing online multiplayer through an official solution. It's the same with Red Dead Redemption 1, as the multiplayer was cut from the modern PC and PS4 releases. Rockstar Games isn't just about GTA and Red Dead, though, as they have many other stellar titles under their belt. Xbox delivers in this regard.

Steam does feature some Rockstar games that aren't available on Xbox Series X/S, like GTA 2 and L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files.

There's Red Dead Revolver, Bully, the Max Payne trilogy, Manhunt, Midnight Club: Los Angeles, and even Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis. All these games are good in their own right, even if they're not the same caliber as GTA or Red Dead Redemption. It's also worth noting that while you can buy Manhunt on the PlayStation store, it doesn't function properly on the PS5. It's the same with The Warriors, and I was gutted when I booted it up on my PS5 Pro, only to discover a glitchy mess. Xbox doesn't have that problem.

Marathoning Rockstar Games Before GTA 6 Is A Blast On Xbox

It's Such A Fun Experience

Normally, I play Ninja Gaiden or Trials whenever I have downtime between new releases, but in 2025, that space has firmly been occupied by Rockstar games. Since a few years ago, I've been 100% completing every Rockstar game, and with GTA 6 now with an official release date, that goal is ramping up even more.

This Tiny GTA 6 Detail Could Break A 28-Year Grand Theft Auto Tradition - If Fans Are Correct

The Grand Theft Auto series has no shortage of controversies, but its latest addition could push the limits of what can be included in mature games.

Recently, I 100% completed GTA San Andreas, which was a great game, even though it's aged a bit, and I'm close to 100% completing GTA 3. I still need to 100% Vice City and do some achievement cleanup for other titles, including the brutal 70 gold medals in Red Dead Redemption 2, but I'm having a great time doing it.

You see the evolution of Rockstar as it improve its craft when you have access to all the games, complete with the original multiplayer modes. I can't wait to play more obscure Rockstar games, like Table Tennis and Midnight Club LA, and the only modern platform where you can do so is Xbox. If you're considering marathoning the GTA games or every Rockstar title, PlayStation can't take you quite as far. Unless the PC exclusives call your name more, Xbox could be the best way to check out some forgotten Rockstar classics before the launch of Grand Theft Auto 6.
