Agatha All Along, the future shape of Marvel stories is finally beginning to come together. Marvel has worked hard these past years to develop exciting new characters to take on the franchise's future, and with even a new MCU Iron Man legacy hero being introduced next year, the future looks bright for Marvel.
The shape of the Avengers in the MCU is currently nebulous, even with some of the strongest Avengers characters having recently been introduced. This has led to speculation about the cumulative effects of series like Agatha All Along, and how they contribute to the larger story of the universe. With there being missing characters in Agatha All Along hinted at elsewhere, the future of the franchise is beginning to take shape. In the near future, it is all but assured that Billy Maximoff (Joe Locke) will appear alongside two of Marvel's most popular new characters in an offshoot of the core Avengers team.
Agatha All Along Set Up Billy And Tommy Maximoff For The MCU's Young Avengers
Wiccan And Speed Will Be A Major Part Of This New Story
After Agatha All Along, Billy and Tommy Maximoff are certain to become a part of the MCU's exciting Young Avengers team. The recent series, which grew its viewership steadily over the course of its nine-episode run, saw the spirit of Billy Maximoff possessing the body of William Kaplan after he died in a car accident outside the Hex in Westview. The series followed Billy's self-discovery journey as he accompanied Agatha Harkness and her coven of witches along the Witches' Road. This culminated with an end that directly set up the future.
In the final episodes, Billy assists Tommy's spirit in finding a new body to possess. This suggests that, while it is unclear where Tommy is in the MCU, he is out there waiting to be found. The final moments of Agatha All Along saw Billy and Ghost Agatha teaming up to go out and find him. Where this story continues directly remains to be announced by Marvel; however, these events will certainly play into any Young Avengers stories planned for the franchise.
MCU Shows Ms. Marvel And Hawkeye Set Up Two Other Young Avengers
Kamala Khan And Kate Bishop Are The First Two Of The New Team
Much of the makeup of the Young Avengers is based on inserting new, younger versions of existing heroes into the team, and the MCU has been hard at work since Phase 4 to establish these heroes in the franchise. Because of that, there are a number of potential characters in the MCU who could the Young Avengers, but thus far, Kamala Khan and Kate Bishop are the first two confirmed of the team. They were introduced in 2022 and 2021, respectively, through the series Ms. Marvel and Hawkeye.
Kate Bishop represents a young Hawkeye, while Kamala Khan takes the place of a young Captain Marvel. These characters differ significantly from their counterparts, with Kate Bishop's Hawkeye especially representing an entirely different personality from Clint Barton. Kate Bishop's spunky and cool introduction in Hawkeye, played by Hailee Steinfeld, was well received, with the series earning a 92 percent critic score on Rotten Tomatoes.
In Ms. Marvel, a very different kind of hero was introduced in the young, charismatic Kamala Khan, played by Iman Vellani. The series was a modest success in of viewership, but where it hit hard was with the critics that reviewed it, garnering a 98 percent Rotten Tomatoes score. Many have referred to it as one of the best MCU series yet, with Kamala Khan being poised to be one of the most beloved characters introduced in the Multiverse Saga. While this is a tall order, the reception to her character has been strong, which may help lead into the MCU's potential Young Avengers project.
Every Other MCU Movie And Show That Has Set Up Potential Young Avengers
New Characters Have Been Introduced In Various Films And Series
A Young Avengers project has been rumored for some time now in the MCU, and was confirmed at the The Marvels. The film gave the most blatant acknowledgment of the forthcoming team yet, with Kamala Khan recruiting Kate Bishop for a new venture. The two seem to be the most obvious choices for the team, but there are a fair number of other who have also been teased in projects from She-Hulk: Attorney at Law to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

When Will The Young Avengers Come Together In The MCU?
The Setup Has Been Playing Out For Some Time, And A Project Is Likely Farther Along Than Expected
Where the Young Avengers come together as a team, and in what kind of project, is harder to predict. Many have speculated that the MCU's Young Avengers project could be a Disney+ series and, while this is possible, a theatrical movie would be much more impactful and likely, especially after the tease in The Marvels. Marvel currently has two unannounced films slated for 2026 and 2027, with speculation that one of them could be Young Avengers. These could also be Blade, Armor Wars, Doctor Strange 3, Shang-Chi 2, or something else entirely.
What seems perhaps most likely is that the Young Avengers team will come together in Avengers: Doomsday and/or Avengers: Secret Wars. With this story set to affect the entire world of the MCU, it has been rumored that the closest Marvel movies will focus on the multiverse story, delaying less-connected projects like Blade. Launching an entirely new team in their own film would be a strange choice if this is the case. Instead, what feels likely is that the Young Avengers team will assemble during these films, and will receive separate projects on one of the 2027 dates following.

I've Worked Out Exactly How The MCU Can Adapt Tommy Maximoff's Comics Origin And It's Perfect For Marvel's Young Avengers Project
Agatha All Along teased Tommy Maximoff's return to the MCU, and I would love for an project to adapt his Marvel Comics story faithfully.
The roster of the Young Avengers continues to grow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it is only a matter of time before the team finally assembles. Locke's Billy Maximoff was one of the best components of the excellent Agatha All Along, and seeing the character continue alongside Kate Bishop and Kamala Khan could make for an entertaining future in the franchise. There is hope that this will occur sooner rather than later, although Marvel does seem to have a plan, and a larger story they are looking to tell.
