The Power Rangers universe found its own equivalent to Shazam in the form of Kimberly Hart in Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: Pink, a six-part series taking place after the third season of the show, following Kimberly's transferring her powers to new Pink Ranger Kat. As a civilian, Kimberly finds needs Zordon's help when her mom is kidnapped by perennial Rangers' nemesis Goldar, who has overtaken a village in .

In Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: Pink #1 – written by Brenden Fletcher and Kelly Thompson, illustrated by Daniele Di Nicuolo, colored by Sarah Stern, and lettered by Ed Dukeshire – Zordon re-introduces the Sword of Light, not only re-activating Kimberly's Pink Ranger powers, but also allowing her to share her power, similar to how The Captain and Mary Marvel share the powers of Shazam to turn their siblings into superheroes.

The Sword Of Light Returns In A Vital Way In Power Rangers: Pink

Trini Kimberly and Zack become Power Rangers again from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Pink #2

Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: Pink #1 is the first time the Sword of Light has made an appearance in Rangers lore since it was introduced in Season Two of the 1990s television series. The Sword allowed Trini, Zack, and Jason to give their Ranger powers up. The Sword was not used to transfer Kimberly's powers in Season Three, meaning Kimberly retained Pink Ranger energy within her, which Zordon activates. The Sword of Light is imbued with Zordon's power, draining from him and transferring to Kimberly, amplifying her Pink energy. The Sword pulling directly from the power of Zordon parallels Mary Marvel and The Captain pulling from the magic of the wizard Shazam.

Kimberly Shares Her Powers To Make New Rangers

The Shazam Family call on each other to become heroes using shared magic. In Pink #1, Kimberly does the same through the Sword. She calls for Zack and Trini to help, transferring her powers to them, making them Rangers again. To fill out the rest of the roster, Kimberly makes Rangers of new French friend Sergei, and his sister Britt, who respectively become the temporary Blue and Red Rangers. Keeping the Shazam parallel in mind, the biggest difference is that Billy and Mary can share their magic without being weakened. In Pink #1, Kimberly and Zordon are made vulnerable, with Zach, Trini, Sergei, and Britt only getting a fraction of their power.

Later in the miniseries, in Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: Pink #2 Trini notes that she still feels immense power without the need of the full power boost. Nonetheless, this only highlights just how much Zordon and Kimberly's energy is being drained in these moments. Even in small doses, the additional heroes benefiting from the shared power transfer are being gifted with great power. It makes the stakes feel all the more heightened, with every ounce of power used needing to count as it's draining Zordon and Kimberly to use. This is an incredible parallel to Shazam, but one with major drawbacks for the Power Rangers using the Sword of Light.
