The Wheel Of Time's Mat Twist Was Incredible, Especially Since The Show Convinced Me It Would Never Happen
Books are always better. First of all, because it costs WAAAY less to add extra words, sentences, paragraphs, pages, or chapters to a book than it costs to do nearly anything on a screen. Secondly, and most importantly, whenever you read a book, the characters, scenery, actions, world, and story have been created by you, in your own mind. It's statistically improbable, if not impossible, for any 2 people to read a book and come away with the exact same vision of what occurred. Hell, I've even gone back and reread books years later and had an entirely new vision of the story than the first time I read it. And the final reason: it's just not feasible to include every single thing from a book in a show or even a series of movies. Peter Jackson's Middle Earth movies are a prime example. The extended versions of all 3 Lord of the Rings movies total around 12 hours, and there was quite a bit left out of those. For that matter, he split a single book, The Hobbit, into 4 movies and STILL, there was material left out. I hope this helps folks better understand why there will never be a show or movie/s that's the same or even as good as the book they are based upon.
I've Completely Changed My Mind On My Biggest Complaint With The Jedi
I wouldn't go so far as to say the Jedi "would" have been seduced, but I'd be willing to say some of them "could" have been seduced by some rousing speeches. I'd hope that plenty of fictional characters have the same ability to see through bull$h!t as a lot of non-fictional people do.
Jean-Luc Picard Set An Unwanted Star Trek Record As The Captain Of 2 Different Starfleet Ships
Yes and no. Captain Archer's Enterprise was the first Starfleet vessel to bear the name Enterprise. However, it was the NX-1, not the NCC-1701... Sort of the same way the United States Navy aircraft carrier, USS Enterprise, has the same name.
Edit: This comment was meant to be a reply to Darrell, not Richard.
Jean-Luc Picard Set An Unwanted Star Trek Record As The Captain Of 2 Different Starfleet Ships
He was, but much like the United States governments "impeachment" process, it merely means to have charges brought, not that you are ultimately deemed guilty/responsible.
The Star Wars Sequel Trilogy Secretly Broke One Classic George Lucas Rule
"Rule" might be a bit of a strong word here.
What Happened To Obi-Wan Kenobi's Lightsaber After A New Hope?
The 2 most likely scenarios (each with multiple potentialities) I can think of are that either Vader picked it up, took it to his chambers, and it was destroyed in the explosion of the Death Star, it landed on Yavin IV with other debris from the Death Star, or it was blasted into space, or the 2nd scenario is that Vader picked it up and still had it on him when he jumped in his TIE Advanced x1, and after the battle, he could have taken it back to his castle on Mustafar to keep as a trophy, or taken it to Mustafar and chucked it into the lava...or maybe, just maybe, he took it full circle back to Tatooine and tossed it into the Dune Sea...because we know just how much the man hates sand! 🤣
Netflix's $320 Million Gamble Now Being Watched Less In U.S. Than One Of 2024's Biggest Flops Only 1 Week After Release
I thought the movie was fine. Was it something that I'd want to pay to see in the theater? Probably not, but then again, it takes quite a bit for me to fork out the money it costs to see a movie in the theater... Especially when I have such a nice home theater setup, and with a little patience, I can see the movie shortly after it's theatrical run. Most of the time when it comes to big budget films, if critics hate it, I'm almost certainly going to enjoy it! I really don't know what they are expecting out of a movie,
James Cameron’s Terminator 7 Will Have To Do What The Franchise Has Been Avoiding For 40 Years
By today's SFX standards The Terminator and T2: Judgement Day are definitely dated. That being said, those are my top two movies.
Move Over, Star Wars! Star Trek Has Its Very Own Lightsabers, But Which Weapon Reigns Supreme?
This is an odd way to comment on this particular article. Don't get me wrong. You're 100% entitled to think Star Trek is better than Star Wars...but you say that Star Wars is still trying to catch up with Star Trek, when this article is all about Star Trek copying something Star Wars has already done. I can see a comment like, "Once again, Star Trek does it better than Star Wars!" (Example sentence only, because that's not my belief at all.).
Also, I'd like to know what marketing "genius" came up with the idea that the 2 different intellectual properties have to be in conflict with each other. It's almost like saying, "G.I. Joe rules! Transformers suck!" when discussing 80s after school cartoons. While Star Wars:A New Hope is my all-time favorite movie (and seeing it at the drive-in with my parents is my first memory), I love Star Trek! Both are tremendous universes, and each are amazing in their own way. If you want to get down to brass tacks, according to the specs online, the Enterprise, from the NCC 1701 A and up wouldn't have any problem tearing through Palatine's Exegol fleet singlehandedly. Conversely, Vader would have no trouble wiping out all of Starfleet by himself.
I don't see either franchise trying to directly compete with the other, myself. I respect your opinion that you prefer Star Trek, and after a lengthy and utterly worthless comment of my own, my point is that I think you could have chosen a better way to express your opinion in light of the point of this article. 🤘🖖✌
Star Trek: Every Version Of The Starship Enterprise
If we ever develop the ability to travel interstellar space in a relatively faster than light fashion and we don't name the first vessel to do so "Enterprise," that will be the last straw in our failure as a species
Why Star Trek’s Enterprise & Starfleet Ships Are Gray
Just primer, my friend. There was a paint scheme that never came to fruition. Don't you know that Klingons hate pastels?
After 47 Years, We Finally Know Darth Vader's Maximum Force Strength (& Whether He Could Ever Beat Palpatine)
According to The Last Jedi, Luke had cut himself off from the force for quite awhile (a storyline I'm not exactly a fan of 🤨), so maybe that has something to do with it, or maybe there's a difference in the way a Jedi would do it vs a Sith. 🤷♂ I don't know. It's also possible that it's just a plot hole that wasn't really considered. I'm not sure what all is canon and what isn't, but from the "Legends," Grand Master Luke was more powerful in the Light than Sidious was in the Dark. I don't know if any of the powers Luke had in those stories will ever become canon (or already are 🤷♂), so it all really comes down to whatever George Lucas thinks. May the Force be with you.
All 39 Sith Lords In Star Wars Canon
While Vader's Inquisitors were Dark-side Force s, they weren't Sith.
Luke Skywalker Wasn't The Only Jedi Working With The Rebels In The Original Trilogy
You're 100% correct! In The Empire Strikes Back, Obi Won says, "That boy is our last hope" (Get it? "A New Hope" 😜), and Yoda says, "No. There is another." At that point, we aren't aware that he's most likely talking about Leia, but regardless, the word "Jedi" isn't used by either of them in that conversation. Now, in Episode VI, Yoda says, "Luke...when gone I am...the last of the Jedi you will be," which either means that there really were no other Jedi or there were no Jedi that Yoda was aware of. Being as he hid himself on Dagobah to evade detection from Vader and Palpatine, I doubt he did much "Force-searching" to reach out and try to sense other Jedi, as that would have most likely been like a giant beacon, thus negating the point of hiding out on Dagobah. In addition, neither Ahsoka nor Sabine were Jedi, so they could have been doing their thing and Yoda's words are still true. It falls under the same deal as all of Vader's Inquisitors running around and the Sith "Rule of Two" still being observed. The Inquisitors weren't Sith, even if Ventress originally called herself such in the 2-D Clone Wars animation, which was canon at that time but is no longer. Still, Dooku showed her the true meaning of being a Sith 🤣. So no matter how it ends up working out, with whatever additional lore gets added to the original trilogy timeframe, Yoda's words will always be true..."from a certain point of view." 😉
